Tinsel & Tails 2015

Earlier this week, I attended Tinsel & Tails 2015, the party of the year.

Tinsel & Tails is The Mayhew Animal Home's annual extravaganza, serving to celebrate the charity's triumphs throughout the year and to raise funds for the year ahead.

2015's affair was held at The Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden and I made a grand entrance. As the chandeliers sparkled above my head, I walked the red carpet, getting stopped for plenty of paparazzi shots and press interviews along the way - I felt like I was in Doggywood!

More than 200 fantastic people came out to show their support for The Mayhew, including Neil Morrissey and his ex-Mayhew furry companion Tiggy, film legend Peter Egan, actress and long-time Mayhew supporter Sue Jameson, and James McVey from The Vamps.

Of course, us dogs were the real stars of the show; the TheraPaws dogs were out in force, and famous Instagram dogs Marcel Le Corgi, Lelle, Coco, Winny the Corgi, and Freda all made appearances.

Upon arrival, everyone was treated to a drinks reception before sitting down to a delicious vegan/vegetarian three-course meal. All of the tables were named after renowned ex-Mayhew residents, and I felt honoured to be sitting at the table named after ME!

In between courses, The Mayhew's celebrity supporters took to the stage to convey some truly moving tales about the animals the charity has helped this year. We heard about animals helping other animals too, including Antonio, a cat with a rare blood type who became a life-saving blood donor in 2015.

One of the best moments of the evening was when Caroline Yates, Chief Executive at The Mayhew, revealed the charity's latest film. The film showcases all of the hard work The Mayhew staff and volunteers carry out on a daily basis, and when my story was told on screen, the entire room erupted into applause (and a few people cried too!).

To finish off the night, a luxury auction and raffle took place, with brilliant prizes won by lucky attendees, including a holiday to Lake Camo in Italy, a trip to the stately home where Downtown Abbey is filmed, and tickets to Manchester United's Old Trafford.

More than £14,500 was raised on the night!

This money will be put back into the The Mayhew Animal Home, so they can keep on saving dogs and cats from cruel lives of abuse, neglect, and abandonment.

Tinsel & Tails was a fantastic start to the Christmas season, but unfortunately, too many animals will be spending their Christmases in kennels. Can you help give a dog or cat a cosy sofa-for-life instead? Meet the animals up for adoption at The Mayhew Animal Home »
